Microbial Pathogenisis

The Microbial Pathogenesis initiative is part of ITDI’s expanding research efforts, focused on understanding how microbes cause disease and how we can better prevent or treat infections. Our work centers on three core areas: Bacteriology, Virology, and Drug Discovery.

Researchers involved in this initiative study key aspects of microbial pathogenesis, including how bacteria and viruses express virulence genes, the processes that drive infection, and the complex interactions between pathogens and their hosts.

Mission is to:

  • Advance cutting-edge research in microbial pathogenesis
  • Foster collaboration across disciplines at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï and with external institutions
  • Train and mentor undergraduate, graduate, and medical students pursuing careers in infectious disease research

Through this work, researchers aim to contribute meaningful discoveries that improve public health in Ohio and beyond.
