All international students must complete the Pre-Arrival Course available in the Canvas Learning Management System. You should have recieved an invitation to the course in your student email. You will need to complete the course and follow the directions to request the hold on your student account be lifted so you can enroll in courses.
Late Arrival Information
Late Arrival to ºÚÁϳԹÏ
Students who wish to arrive after their required program start date (as noted on their I-20 or DS-2019) must have permission from International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS).
If you are unable to arrive on time, you must request and receive approval for late arrival from ISSS. You can request late arrival using the following Qualtrics form:
ISSS reviews late arrival requests weekly. If 10 days has passed since you submitted your request, please email iso@ohio.edu. You should not finalize travel plans without approval from ISSS.
Because we want to ensure your arrival to OHIO is just as successful as the time you will spend here over the next few years, we have compiled information and resources that you may find useful on this web page.
Getting Started
No matter when you are planning to arrive to campus, there are some general tasks you should complete to prepare yourself for a successful school year.
1. Complete All Steps on the Admitted Student Page
If you have not done so already, review the Admitted Students page and complete all steps on the page that you have not previously completed.
Through the Admitted Students page, you'll learn everything you need to know to help you navigate campus such as accessing your OHIO ID and email, setting up Wi-fi on campus and obtaining an ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï ID Card. Additionally, you'll learn the steps you need to take with ISSS to confirm your arrival and update your SEVIS record.
2. Update Your Timezone in Outlook
Students should update their Outlook calendars when arriving on campus.

- If you have not done so already, you will need to activate your OHIO ID. Learn how to activate your OHIO ID or reset your password on the .
- Click on your name (it usually looks like a circle with your initials) in the upper right corner
- Click "View Account"
- Select "View Settings and Privacy"
- Select "Language and Region"
- Select the "Time Zone" dropdown and select "Eastern Time (U.S. & Canada)

3. Review the Dependent Presentation (If Applicable)

Late Arrival Information
If the ISSS team has given you approval to arrive to campus late and you will miss some or all of International Student Orientation, you should complete the following steps in addition to those listed on the Admitted Student page.

2. Pick Up Your Welcome Bag
We have a welcome bag for you! Please stop by the ISSS office between the hours of 8am and 5pm (we are closed for lunch from 12-1pm) to pick up your bag. The Yamada International House's address is 56 E. Union Street Athens, Ohio.

3. Complete New Employee Paperwork
If you have a graduate appointment, you must complete international student employee paperwork and meet with Human Resources (HR) to have your identification documents verified. You may not begin work until you have completed and submitted your paperwork. The HR office is located at Grosvenor West, Room 103.
