Computer Technology Major (Associate of Applied Business)

With the Associate of Applied Business degree with a Computer Technology major, students develop skills in several areas of computer technology, including hardware, computer networking, computer programming, databases, network security, and website development.

In addition, students develop skills that enable them to work effectively in business and society including oral and written communication, logic, trouble-shooting, ethical behavior, and time management.

In Person and Online Students can pursue the Computer Technology program in a hybrid format at one of ºÚÁϳԹÏ’s regional campuses in Chillicothe, Lancaster or Southern, or you can complete the degree completely online.

Careers with a Computer Technology Major

Students who major in computer technology work in a variety of positions in computer-based professions such as programming, computer networking, website design and management, and database support.

Depending on the chosen electives in the major, graduates are prepared to work as network technicians, computer support technicians, help desk support analysts, entry-level programmers, or website developers. Graduates may choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree in technical and applied studies, communication studies, or specialized studies.

Program Admission Requirements

First-Year Students

Anyone who holds a high school diploma or has a GED certificate is eligible for admission to any ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï regional campus. Regional campuses have a rolling admissions policy which means that students may be admitted anytime during the year. Applicants will be accepted until class begins each semester. However, prospective students are advised to begin the application process as soon as possible so that they may be given important dates and deadlines in a timely manner. Freshmen applicants are encouraged to complete an application for enrollment.

Transfer and Current OHIO Students

You are a transfer applicant if you have completed nine or more semester (12 quarter) hours at another institution after you graduated from high school. If you have completed fewer than nine semester hours, you will apply as a freshman applicant. To apply as a transfer student, applicants are encouraged to complete an online application for enrollment.

  • Courses and Curriculum

    The minimum requirement for the Associate of Applied Business (A.A.B.) degree is the completion of 60 credits with a 2.0 accumulative GPA in both the major area of study and all course work attempted at ºÚÁϳԹÏ. A maximum of 15 credits earned through prior learning assessment may be applied to any technical associate degree.

  • Tuition and Fees

    The OHIO Guarantee takes the guesswork out of budgeting for college and provides a fixed rate table for tuition and most fees for four years (or 12 consecutive semesters).

    Exploring the Southern or Eastern Campus? Residents of West Virginia can now qualify for in-state tuition.
